In the Philippines you get a driver's license from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in two stages: first a student permit, then a non-professional driver's license. Each stage has a required course, a test, and a medical exam.

Stage 1: Student Permit

  1. Take the 15-hour TDC (Theoretical Driving Course) sa LTO Driver Education Center o accredited driving school.
  2. Magpa-medical exam sa LTO-accredited clinic.
  3. Pumunta sa LTO — dapat 16+ na, marunong magbasa't magsulat, at walang unsettled na violation.
  4. Pasa sa theoretical exam, magbayad, at makukuha ang student permit (valid 1 taon).

Bayad: mga ₱150 permit fee (mga ₱317 kasama ang application + computer fee), dagdag ang medical (₱350–₱500) at ang TDC.

Stage 2: Non-Professional License

  1. Mag-practice kasama ang lisensyadong driver. Hawak ang student permit nang kahit 1 buwan.
  2. Take the PDC (Practical Driving Course) sa LTO Driver Education Center, accredited driving school, o TESDA center.
  3. Mag-apply sa LTO — dapat 17+ na at walang violation.
  4. Pasa sa practical driving test at medical exam, magbayad, at makukuha ang non-professional license.

Bayad: mga ₱585 license fee, dagdag ang PDC at medical.
