Is Nova Citizen free to use?
Yes — Nova Citizen is completely free. There is no subscription, no premium tier, and no in-app purchases. It will always be free for citizens.
How do I submit an incident report?
Open the app at novacitizen.tech, tap "Submit a Report," choose a category (road, flooding, safety, etc.), add a description and your location, then tap Submit. Your report is live immediately.
Why does the app need my location?
Location is used to (1) show you incidents near you on the map, (2) sort your feed by distance, and (3) attach coordinates to reports you submit. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings — the app will fall back to a city-wide view. We never collect location in the background unless you start an SOS session. How do I delete my account and data?
Email [email protected] from the address tied to your account with the subject "Delete my account." We will remove your profile, comments, and personal data within 30 days as required under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173).
I submitted a report by mistake. Can I remove it?
Yes. Open the report in the app, tap the "⋯" menu, and select "Delete report." If you can't find the option, email [email protected] with your report reference number and we'll remove it for you.
How do I report a false or harmful incident?
Tap the "⋯" menu on any incident and select "Flag report." Our moderation team reviews flagged content within 24 hours. For urgent cases involving threats or harassment, email [email protected] directly.
The app isn't loading or something looks broken.
Try a hard refresh (pull down to refresh on mobile, or Cmd+Shift+R on desktop). If the issue persists, email [email protected] with your device model, OS version, and a description of what happened. Screenshots are very helpful.
How do I become a Nova Guardian?
Nova Guardians are verified community reporters in Makati and Metro Manila. If you're interested, email [email protected] with the subject "Nova Guardian application" and tell us which barangay you're in.
Is Nova Citizen available outside Metro Manila?
The app works anywhere in the Philippines — you can submit and view reports nationwide. Our launch focus is Makati City, and we're expanding coverage across Metro Manila and the rest of the Philippines as the community grows.
How do I contact the Data Protection Officer?
Email [email protected] for any formal data privacy matters. You also have the right to file a complaint directly with the National Privacy Commission at privacy.gov.ph.
